Bay Area Fire Sprinkler Company Celebrates First Anniversary of Satellite Location

BAY AREA, LOS ANGELES AND PLACENTIA, CALIFORNIA— Nationwide Fire Protection Corp., a Placentia and Bay Area fire sprinkler company, celebrates the first anniversary of its Placentia satellite location this month.

Nationwide Fire Protection and its affiliate, American Professional Services (APS-Hoods) opened the facility in August 2009 to better meet the increase in calls for Bay Area fire protection work, said NFP’s general manager, Massoud Farazandeh, a fire protection engineer.

Nationwide’s company headquarters are located in Denver, Colorado, and the company has serviced Bay Area, CA fire system accounts from there since the company began in 1989.

“As the California work has increased in the past few years, it became more apparent that we were going to need to have a California location in order to continue providing the quality of service that we expect to our Bay Area fire systems customers, as well as our customers throughout California,” Farazandeh said.

In the year since the Placentia location opened, Farazandeh has created mobile units of professionals who are trained in kitchen hood cleaning and in fire suppression systems inspections. The company has up to five mobile units operating throughout California and Nevada at a time, he said. It has done a great deal, as far as streamlining processes for the company and being more cost-efficient and convenient for restaurants and commercial kitchens.

“Typically, it is our crew chief who is trained in running tests on fire suppression systems,” Farazandeh said.

For restaurants who use APS-Hoods for their hood cleaning needs and Nationwide Fire Protection for their fire suppression system needs, the companies’ mobile units mean that all of these services can be taken care of in one trip, which saves money and time.

“Testing fire suppression systems is done semi-annually,” Farazandeh said. “We try to coordinate these with hood cleanings, so if a restaurant needs their hoods cleaned quarterly, we also will test the fire suppression system at every other cleaning.”

Overall, Farazandeh is pleased with the success of the Placentia location over the past year.

“This has been one of those situations where, once we got this location up and running, I asked myself why we hadn’t done this years ago,” he said.
