New Special Offered by Oakland Fire Systems Company

Filed under: Articles — Tags: Oakland fire alarm systems, Oakland fire systems — Massoud Farazandeh @ 9:00 pm

PLACENTIA, CALIFORNIA—Nationwide Fire Protection Corp. is finding new ways to save customers money on their Oakland fire systems and hood cleaning costs.

It recently announced an offer to save current and potential clients up to 10 percent off the cost of having their Oakland fire alarm systems and hood systems cleaned when they agree to have both services done at the same time.

Current and potential customers need to provide copies of their most recent invoices pertaining to fire alarm system and kitchen hood cleaning services, and NFP will beat those costs by as much as 10 percent when customers hire the company to do both services in one visit.

With headquarters in Denver, CO, NFP has provided its full range of services to restaurants and commercial kitchen facilities throughout Oakland and other California cities since the company opened its doors in 1989, said Massoud Farazandeh, general manager of Nationwide Fire Protection Corp. It opened a location in Placentia, CA in August to better serve its California clients. Having the satellite location enables Nationwide Fire Protection to complete California jobs more quickly because they now maintain an inventory at the Placentia location.

“We no longer have to ship parts and equipment here,” Farazandeh said.

Farazandeh understands that many restaurant and commercial kitchen managers and owners are seeking ways in which to cut costs due to the current economy, he said. This special offer will enable them to accomplish that goal.

“Performing regular hood cleaning services during the same visit as a service call to inspect or perform maintenance on a fire system saves us money on travel costs,” Farazandeh said. “When we can cut costs on our end, we are happy to pass along those savings to customers.”

Hood Cleaning Services
Nationwide Fire Protection’s comprehensive hood cleaning includes using professional equipment and chemicals to remove grease from filters, exhaust fans, hoods and ducts. The company takes special care to cover and protect equipment to keep it from being damaged during the process, Farazandeh said.

Workers also collect all effluent so it can be properly disposed of.
A hood cleaning schedule can be determined according to the type of food cooked in the facility and the type of equipment in the kitchen, he said. No restaurant should go longer than six months between cleanings. Restaurants that use charbroilers and deep fat fryers typically need to have their systems cleaned at least every three months.

Restaurants that use wood fires or smokehouses in their cooking processes should have their equipment cleaned every month. Dining facilities that utilize cooking oils in their kitchens should clean their systems every three months. Vegetable and other oils that are allowed to build up become “glue-like” and are very difficult to remove, Farazandeh said.

Fire System Services
Servicing fire systems on a regular basis is imperative to ensuring they are functioning properly in the event of a fire.

Fire system maintenance involves tasks such as checking fusible link line conduits to make sure they are free of grease. Nozzles are inspected to make sure they contain nozzle caps. Those without caps often become clogged with grease. If this is the case, it is possible that fire suppression chemicals won’t discharge properly in the event of a fire, Farazandeh said.

Cables also are inspected to ensure they are properly positioned to activate the system if a fire breaks out. Electrical interlocking is checked to make sure that it shuts off the Makeup Air Unit, shuts off electrical appliances, outlets and lights in and under the hood, and starts the exhaust fan if a fire erupts, he said.
Fire system servicing also include system recharges when necessary.
